Christmas Parade in Valdosta

Every year there is a parade around Christmas time, but I always forget about it. My friend Sally texted me one afternoon and asked if I was going to photograph it, but I had no idea it was even happening - and only a couple blocks down the street from where I live to boot.

I grabbed a camera and took some b&w photos for fun, with my Pentax 67ii. Here's a few of the Valdosta High Marching Band, which always brings back memories of my parade days:

Rally / Protest regarding Muslim Refugees in Valdosta, GA

Some friends let me know about a rally happening protesting the "Muslim invasion" of the USA in downtown Valdosta. A lot of my friends at the college did a counter-protest at this rally. I documented the event, which happened at the Lowndes County Courthouse:

100 Black Men of Valdosta Barbecue Competition 2015

This year marks the 20th Anniversary for the 100 Black Men of Valdosta's Barbecue Cook-off.

I've missed the last couple of years but was able to come out this time and really had fun shooting some images of the barbecuing. Meagan enjoyed some jerked chicken and a snowcone while I snapped away with my Rolleiflex.
